Goal Keepers – Victor Valdes, José Pinto.
Analysis – Valdes is again a solid goal-keeper with Pinto proving to be an able replacement. Neither are World-Class however and while Valdes is not old he doesn\’t have the potential to get much better.
Verdict – A decent duo to start with but a long-term and World-Class replacement should be in the back of your head.
Fullbacks – Éric Abidal, Daniel Alves, Maxwell Cabelino Andrade, Carles Puyol.
Analysis -You have a brilliant foundation to work off here with Alves and Maxwell being extremely good options at RB and LB. Abidal proves an able rotational player and a good candidate for games where you will need to be defensively solid. At RB you are also fairly settled with Alves making the position his own, along with Puyol who can slot in at RB should he be needed there.
Verdict – A good foundation to build off but a dedicated RB should be something you look into with Puyol being a much better centre-back than fullback.
Centre-backs – Rafael Márquez, Gabriel Milito, Gerard Piqué, Carles Puyol, Dmytro Chygrynskiy.
Analysis – One of the strongest parts of the squad in terms of depth. You have a wealth of options to choose from all of which are easily able to make the grade at Barcelona. Pique is your talisman however, as he is both young and extremely talented. Making up the second centre-back you have endless options.
Verdict – A monsterous line-up of defenders, however aside from Pique and Chygrynskiy you have ageing defenders who while solid in the first season will begin to fade off quickly from there. Looking into a few good youth options here should be a priority.
Midfielders – Sergi Busquets, Xavi Hernandez, Andrés Iniesta, Seydou Keita, Touré Yaya.
Analysis – The pinicle of the Barcelona team. Between Xavi, Iniesta and Toure you have the strongest midfield in the world. They are able to control the ball, dictate the tempo and muscle people off the ball with absolute ease and with the likes of Busquets and Keita waiting in the wings you have enough re-inforcements here to sustain you through injuries.
Verdict – Only youth is worth investing in here. Aside of Fabregas there isn\’t really anyone who is worth mentioning in the same breathe as your midfield, so look to invest into youth here for the ageing Xavi.
Forwards – Thierry Henry, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Bojan Krkic, Lionel Messi, Pedro Rodriguez, Jeffren Suárez.
Analysis – From one of the strongest Midfields to the most frightening Forwards. Between Messi, Ibrahimovic and Henry you have an attacking force to be feared by everyone and rightly so. You also have youth product coming through with Suarez, Pedro and Bojan all able to kick the ball about as well as the starters which makes it possibly as good as the Midfield is, which is a very scray thought.
Verdict – With both Henry and Ibrahimovic getting on in life a World-Class out and out Forward could be a good addition. However with the likes of Bojan coming through, investment is probably better spent on possible World-Class prospects for the future.
Squad Overview – Being Barcelona, the word \”Brilliant\” comes to mind and rightly so with the squad you have. From the back to the front there is little room for improvement and getting into the squad will be a very tough prospect for any additions that would be made to the squad. With the likes of Keirrison, Caceraes and Hleb all out on loan and possibly coming back to the squad at the end of the season you are faced with a problem of trying to keep everyone happy.
Possible Squad Additions – You should initially look to re-inforce your Defence with some good youth Prospects and a solid defensive minded RB to compliment the attacking qualities of Alves. Looking into a Goal-Keeper is the next target after your defence has been shored up. From there on out filling out your squad in Midfield and Forwards is at your prerogative.
With the players (future signings you make excluded) you have, going for the usual 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 is the best option with the team you have. With Messi and Henry playing out wide at AMR and AML and Xavi, Iniesta and Yaya Toure controlling the middle in the CM\’s and DMC position you can create a monsterous attacking force with the defensive solidity that has seen Barcelona rise to the pinacle of football as the best team in Europe.
However with the quality of players that you have at your disposal it should be easy to cater for a variety of format
